The New Springfield Regional Medical Center:

Now Open

The new Springfield is a 254-bed, 475,000-square-foot, full service medical facility, with all private rooms equipped with the most advanced technology.

Ground was broken in October 2008 to begin construction of the state-of-the-art, full service hospital, which will open this coming November, at the corner of Plum and North Streets in downtown Springfield.

Here are just a few of the special features the hospital includes:

  • Beautiful open air atrium
  • 254 all-private rooms that are 50% larger
  • Expanded Emergency Center
  • Three-story Women's Health Pavilion
  • Attached medical office building
  • Expansive dining area with large windows overlooking Buck Creek
  • Wireless capabilities
  • HEPA Air filters in the Emergency Department and operating rooms; expandable to other areas of the hospital
  • Anti-microbial paint and hardware coatings to inhibit the growth of bacteria
  • Environmental control of room lighting, temperature, nurse call and a flat panel TV from the bed
  • High-tech beds that patients love for the comfort and staff appreciates for the safety features.
  • Nine-foot windows that allow more natural light into rooms for a positive healing environment.
  • Around-the-clock visiting hours (in most patient rooms) and a pull-out couch to encourage families to connect with their loved ones in a comfortable setting.
